What I learned

Today I will be discussing what I learned from chapters 4, 5, and 6 of "Social Media for Strategic Communication". Chapter 4 focused on what career options are available for those wanting to work in social media and what things employers are looking for. The advice that was given was to be sure to keep moving forward. This is mainly because growing a social media presence takes a lot of time and effort. You have to work very hard to keep growing your followers by creating creative and versatile content. The chapter explains that it's not all about what you know about social media, but the contacts and relationships you form.

Chapter 5 focused a lot of research in social media. I had no idea how important research can be for social media professionals or being able to read analytics. However, it is incredibly important for understanding audiences, you can see what people are sharing or commenting about your brand, and it can also answer questions that you have regarding your brand. Another key point that was mentioned was monitoring your social media practices. This is important cause it can provide you with details about competing brands, the right times to post what, and track information over time.

Chapter 6 focused mainly on strategic plans for social media. The chapter explains that in order to build your social media career, you must have a well-thought-out plan that helps you to achieve your goals. This involves a lot of research on various things like support from other professionals, brand voice, and the mission or vision. This is important because it helps when your brand runs into problems or wants to figure out how to create new ideas and understand the logistics of those ideas.
